Ask yourself:

  • Where do we fit in the market?

  • Who are our competitors? Who do we complement?

  • What makes us truly unique? Is this something clients value?

  • Do we convey this in our client interactions?

Thomas J. Coleman
Founder and President

Throughout his 35+ year career in fixed income, Tom has had a singular focus on deepening the connections between investment managers and their clients. As a portfolio manager early in his career he recognized the communication gap that exists between the technical expertise of market practitioners and their multi-tasking clients. As an investment strategist working between investment and client teams to build businesses he looked for ways to close that gap.

At Fixed Focus Advisors we work with your investment, client-facing and product teams to streamline and focus the way you connect with the market. You’ve made the investment to build a quality investment strategy. Now make it stand out.

The competitive marketplace within which Fixed Income managers operate is larger and more complex than ever. While a select few managers have used scale to build substantial businesses the fact is that monopolies and oligopolies rarely truly benefit clients. Rather than creating barriers to entry, this condition actually creates tremendous opportunities for managers that can offer clients tangible benefits within this market context.

That path often starts with listening to what clients wanted to achieve in their investment programs which then leads to identifying product and organizational attributes that can deliver solutions. In turn, this fed content development, strategy positioning points, message training and product development to drive growth.

Tom applied this approach to launch and build successful businesses across fixed income, including: Liability-Driven Investing, US & Global Credit, Systematic Credit, High Yield, Bank Loans, Multi Sector Credit, Core & Core Plus.

Tom earned a BS in Finance with Honors from Syracuse University and an MBA in Finance with Distinction and a Fixed Income concentration from NYU’s Stern School of Business. He was an Investment Strategist and led teams building businesses at State Street Global Advisors, Standard Life Investments/Aberdeen, Wellington Management and MetLife.
